Now with punBB Support

Remember that thing I promised around a day ago, bridging support? Well it's here, after an entire day of hacking the newly finished bridging system has arrived and with it support for LF's choice forum, punBB Grining

So what exactly is different about this bridging system, well lots of things, most of them technical so I'll spare you to details and underline the main difference, you no longer have to edit your bridged software such as punBB, in any way, shape or form Smileing How is this possible I hear you cry? Well LF now listens to other software. Of course other software is not designed to talk to LF so LF sends the boys round to get the information it needs Cheeky Take a look for yourself at the boys in action http://logicfury.org/forum.

One word of caution however, although tested I would say this is easily the most experimental feature of LF so please make a backup of your existing forum if you are applying it to one.
Release Candidate 1

Well, it has indeed been a long time has it not? Sourceforge has the project down as being registered in 2003. That's quite some development time. Anyway the day has finally arrived where the Release Candidate is ready to be released and so Logicfury's first final release is actually on the horizon!

Just an iteration from my previous post, the Release Candidate is exactly the same as Logicfury 1 final except for a few important changes. There are only two things that will be changed in the final version and they are any bugs that are found and the bridging files for the forums punBB and phpBB.

That is not to say that the Release Candidate is full of bugs, actually it's quite easily the most stable version of Logicfury to date Smileing

One final thing, regarding the bridging system that allows logic fury to work with other software such as forums with minimal change to their code. This system has a completely new way of working now and the bridge files are not quite ready yet. For this reason I have neglected to include any bridge files in the release candidate version but they will become available shortly.

That's correct ladies and gentlemen. After much deliberation the Logicfury project is indeed back in motion again.

Anyone who saw the previous site might remember from the news post that logicfury was being still in development even after the project was supposedly "closed". I continued to work on the project to "scratch my own itch". That is I was using Logicfury on my blog site and when bug X or feature Y needed fixing or adding it was done but obviously only I and a couple of people of whom I shared Logicfury with, would benefit from this development. I'm an open source fan and so once the version of Logicfury I use on my blog reached a more or less bug free status I started to think about releasing what I had done. Once I started thinking about releasing it I started questioning why the project was closed in the first place. I had created a list of features for the next release that involved so much work that it would have taken years, I see now that was a silly thing to do and so a few things will change this time round regarding gigantic unreachable feature lists. The new approach is slowly but surely Cheeky

Now on to that all important topic of a release. Logicfury Release Candidate 1 is ready! What does this mean? Well if you go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/logicfury you can download RC 1 from the SVN. The release candidate is the final version of Logicfury, no extra features will be added the only changes that will be made are bug fixes - if bugs are found. So this is a version for downloading, playing around with and so forth and upon chancing across bugs, hopefully reporting them http://bugs.launchpad.net/logicfury/+filebug Smileing

The release candidate will soon (as in this week) be packaged up and be available from this site.
